Cheryl McCormack – Principal Recruiter & Business Consultant, established McCormack Employment Services (formerly McCormack Recruitment) in 1998 following a six-year period in a Senior Executive role within a global recruitment firm.
Prior, Cheryl was fortunate to have spent a highly successful period of her earlier career in retail management, having risen to a senior management level within a large national department store chain with the accolade of being one of the youngest senior managers in the then history of department stores in Australia.
A lifelong learner, Cheryl has a degree in Human Resources & Management, graduate qualifications in Total Quality Management and Psychology and is currently completing a Master of Public Administration majoring in Policy.
A self-confessed foodie, Cheryl is also a lover of fine wine and on a rainy Sunday afternoon, you are likely to find her with a book in one hand (auto-bio’s mostly – when not studying) and a glass of red in the other!
A born interviewer, Cheryl is outgoing and inquisitive when it comes to other people and what drives them, a quality essential for successful recruitment. She believes that a high performing recruiter needs to have an innate ability in getting to the core of a person’s character and motivations not just their skills and experience and all within a very narrow window of time, she says this is the ‘art of recruitment!’ Her professional approach and delivery to all stakeholders have culminated in the long tenure of her placements over two decades, a testimony to her success.
Cheryl McCormack is equally driven when it comes to service levels provided to clients and candidates alike, firmly believing that for any business to be in a position to achieve this goal their processes, procedures, policies and people must be strategically aligned. Analytical and objective by nature, her attention to detail along with a burning desire to continually ask ‘why‘ enables her to identify best practices in most given situations. This skill combined with her clarity in communicating at all levels lends her to the enjoyment and satisfaction she derives from her involvement in the provision of Business Solutions to other small and medium-sized organisations specifically within her area of expertise – education, religious and other nfp’s.
