McCormack’s professional, personal approach is driven by Founder and Director Cheryl McCormack, who possesses over 18 years of experience in the recruitment industry.

After leaving her initial pianoforte studies at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music to pursue her desire for business, Cheryl was accepted into a Graduate Management course with a major retail chain in South Australia. A year later she was the youngest ever Sales Manager in the 100 plus year history of that organisation, responsible for leading and directing over 100 retail staff at the age of 20.

Cheryl continued in retail for 10 years, advancing to a Senior Group Sales Management role coupled with Store Management responsibilities covering over 200 employees and an annual turnover in excess of 20 million. 

Cheryl then decided to turn her hand to Human Resources, the area of her qualifications. In the position of South Australian State Manager with Centacom, Cheryl was instrumental in reviving the company throughout the state.

Cheryl’s meteoric rise continued after transferring within Centacom to manage their Chatswood branch in 1992. Her management skills were quickly recognised and as part of the Senior Management team was at one time responsible for 12 of Centacom’s 18 NSW offices.

Cheryl’s management skills were again integral in the merger between Adia of Switzerland (the largest global recruitment firm) and Centacom (then Australia’s recruitment leader), which combined to form Adecco.

These years also saw Cheryl expand her qualifications, completing a Bachelor of Business degree in Management and Human Resources, as well as a post graduate qualification in Total Quality Management, where she was awarded ‘Top Student Australasia’ from 100 or so students undertaking the 12 month Personnel Consulting correspondence course in 1994.

Cheryl’s son was born in 1995 and she subsequently turned to providing management consulting services, highlighted by her assistance in the establishment of Prestige Trojan Recruitment.

In 1998 Cheryl established McCormack Employment Services, specialising in the core area of Office Administration and Finance tailoring for both temporary and permanent staff.

In 2005 McCormack’s introduced its specialised recruitment services, serving both Independent and Catholic schools for school support staff and teachers. Having been a passion of Cheryl’s for many years, she is proud that education recruitment is fast becoming a highly successful part of McCormack Employment Services.
